Language Arts
Instructor: Mrs. Katie Van Veldhuizen, M.A.
Students will spend approximately an hour a day studying and learning about subjects and materials that go beyond the traditional language arts curriculum. There will be an emphasis placed on incorporating a variety of learning modalities, as well as a specturm of topics to engage every student. The curriculum will focus on the study of poetry in all genres and forms, a close-up look of print journalism, and the process of newspaper writing. In addition, students will participate in a book club-style study of a popular, engaging, age appropriate novel. There will also be an introduction to Reader's Theatre and an in-depth study of a famous, young adult author and his/her works and much, much, more.
